Scalebound Has Been Cancelled

Following a day of worrying rumours, we now have confirmation that the upcoming Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive Scalebound has been cancelled, courtesy of a tweet from the game's official account and a Windows Central article embedded within it.

According to the article, this is the official statement from Microsoft:

After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for "Scalebound." We're working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including "Halo Wars 2," "Crackdown 3," "State of Decay 2," "Sea of Thieves" and other great experiences.
Despite an interesting 2017 line-up, this news will surely shake some confidence given the fact that we're only ten months out from Fable Legends' surprising cancellation and the closure of Lionhead Studios.

It's not clear at this point whether developer Platinum Games will be willing or able to work on Scalebound in some form in the future. What we do know is that the current project has ceased after four years of development.

We will update you with further statements from Microsoft or Platinum Games if they appear.
