[UPDATE] ID@Xbox Releases: Week Beginning January 23rd, 2017

By Rebecca Smith,
Edit: Microsoft has confirmed that Spheroids will not be released this week either. For now, all that we know is that it is "coming later".

Original Story: This week we have four confirmed titles that will be releasing from ID@Xbox. We say "confirmed" because Spheroids did not arrive on the Xbox One last week, even though it was released on Windows 10. Rumours are that the game will be released on console this week on January 27th, but this is yet to be confirmed by Microsoft. We'll wait with bated breath to see if this is true.

TowerFall Ascension

Release Date: Wednesday January 25th
Livestream: Wednesday January 25th, 3pm GMT, 10am EST

Towerfall Ascension has already been released on Playstation 4 (and Vita); over two years later, it finally arrives on Xbox One. The arena archery combat game draws inspiration from the "golden age of couch multiplayer" by challenging players in intense versus matches. Easy to pick up but hard to master, if players are to succeed then they must loot treasure chests for power-ups, catch arrows out of the air or just simply stomp enemies into the floor. The "Ascension" update added a 1-2 player co-op Quest mode to the original game, too.

The Sun and Moon

Release Date: Friday January 27th
Livestream: Friday January 27th, 3pm GMT, 10am EST

Daniel Linssen's upcoming minimalist platformer won Ludum Dare 29, a game event where developers spend a weekend creating a game based solely upon themes that are suggested by the gaming community. The game doesn't just allow players to jump from platform to platform; it also allows players to dive into the ground. Momentum will be preserved but gravity will reversed, allowing players to jump to great heights or dive far beneath the surface. The goal of each level is to collect the three orbs before jumping into the wormhole. Numerous traps, enemies, endless drops and massive jumps try to make your job more difficult over the 150+ levels that range in difficulty from easy to brutally difficult. If you're looking for an extra challenge, there are also bronze, silver and gold awards for each level based on your completion times.

Release Date: Friday January 27th
Livestream: Monday January 30th, 3pm GMT, 10am EST

By the year 2050, humanity had colonized Mars. This involved the construction of an underground city, Mars MPO, to escape high radiation and extreme temperature changes. Subterrain places players in the shoes of Dr West, a scientist who migrated to Mars MPO to work on a cure for Alzheimer's disease. However, an accident sees him accused of murder and given a prison sentence. A year into that sentence, all of the guards disappear and Dr West appears to be the lone survivor of MPO. He must survive, not just by battling enemies but by looking after all of his basic needs.

Doodle God: Ultimate Edition

Release Date: Friday January 27th

Announced nearly 18 months ago, the Doodle God franchise will be making its debut on the Xbox One this week. For those who have never tried their hand at the successful mobile franchise, players must combine elements to make new discoveries and create an entire new universe. More than 300 elements, creatures, and concepts can be created. The console version will include new features like Planet Mode where players can watch their planet come to life.

Which of these will you be adding to your list of games to play?
