Dead by Daylight Announced for Consoles

It's a tale we've all heard a thousand times at this point — the story of a successful PC game that is later ported to consoles. Here we are again with this cliche with Behaviour Digital's multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight, which has been announced for Xbox One and PS4 after a successful June release on PC.

Dead by Daylight is played in the 4v1 style of one player being the Killer and the rest are the Survivors. While Survivors play in the third-person perspective to offer a better view of their surroundings, the Killer is played in first-person to immerse themselves in the role as they focus in on their targets.

The ultimate goal of the Survivors is to escape without getting killed by the appropriately-named Killer. Naturally, it's a dog-eat-dog world out there... sure, the four survivors could work together to get everyone to safety, but wouldn't it be a bit easier to throw someone under the bus while everyone else makes a break for it? It'll be up to players to decide when they enter the Killing Ground, which is what the play area is called. The Killing Ground is dynamic and the environment changes with every game.

Dead by Daylight has had a successful run on Steam, already selling more than 1.6 million copies in just the seven months since its release. It has no release date or pricing yet for consoles, but is on track to release in 2017, according to Behaviour and publisher Starbreeze. It retails for US$19.99 on Steam.
