A fresh wave of new content, features and improvements has arrived for DICE's Battlefield 1 as the team recently released the Winter Update. Ribbons have made a return, new unlockables have been added, gameplay and graphics have been tweaked, and there's a whole lot more too.

Ribbons have returned to Battlefield and the newly added collection will offer 20 different ones to collect. Besides from serving as a bit of an incentive to play well as a team or focus more on the objective, each Ribbon will reward you with 300XP.

To give your weapon a slight visual edge over the others, you will now have the possibility to unlock an Elite Codex for eight of the primary weapons available in the game. To unlock one of these fancy Codex's, all you need to do is bag 500 more kills per applicable weapon. On top of the Codex, you will also receive 25,000 bonus XP.

Max Class Ranks have been adjusted too. Originally, the max rank for each primary class was Rank 10. The newly adjusted max rank will now be 50. Here's the rewards for reaching the new max:

When you hit 50, you will be granted some extra nice Class flair in the kill card to taunt your fallen foes. There will also be Dog Tags that you can unlock as you progress towards max Class Rank 50.
A few new features have made their way to the rent-a-server feature. RSP admins will have the ability to kick players from their server via the in-game user interface. If you find yourself getting troubled by the same player, swing the ban hammer at them instead and keep them off your server for good. RSP admins will also be happy to know that they will now be prioritized over regular players when trying to access their own server.

Voting for the next map after a match has finished is also a new option with the option to choose from two different maps. Each map will be randomly selected from the server's map rotation. The voting will take place during the end of round screen.

Take a look at the full list of changes in the patch notes, which includes details on game improvements, gameplay, weapons, and a ton more. The notes can be found right here.

Lastly, if you've yet to play Battlefield since the release of the update, have a watch of the official first look livestream where members of the development team showcase many of the new features and additions in just over an hour of streaming.
