When Ed Boon said that the upcoming reboot of Mortal Kombat
would consist primarily of fighters from Mortal Kombat 2
and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
, he was not lying. The February issue of Game Informer has confirmed the return of the original four armed monster, Goro. Ed Boon confirmed that Goro would be a boss character and could be found in a redesigned version of his lair from the first Mortal Kombat
Far more surprising, is the reveal that Mortal Kombat 2
hidden character, Jade, would be joining him in the franchise relaunch. Jade is a green palette swap of Kitana and was invulnerable to projectiles in Mortal Kombat 2
. When she was brought back for Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
, she was selectable normally and lost her projectile invulnerability.
Ed Boon also mentions that while the PS3 version is getting Kratos from the God of War franchise, no Xbox 360 exclusive character has been chosen yet. The current plan is for an Xbox 360 exclusive character at launch with additional characters, including more guest characters, available as post-launch DLC.
