Halo Wars 2 Upcoming Update and DLC Details

By Kelly Packard, 9 months ago
The full details have been released for Halo Wars 2's approaching update and new leader DLC. Originally supposed to launch last week, the DLC and accompanying patch are now set to arrive early the week of March 20th on both Xbox One and Windows 10, though there is no official date as of this writing.

Players will see the first new leader DLC added. Say hello to Lt. Colonel Morgan Kinsano, who is certainly going to "light up" the battlefield. She's got new units and abilities to accompany her on the attack while she sits high atop her trusty Flame Cyclops mech.

There's also the matter of the accompanying patch. The development team has been looking into numerous issues, both balance and otherwise, since the strategy game's February 21st launch.

Buried within the patch notes — which, due to their size, are enclosed in the spoiler tags below — you'll see the "Kinsano" DLC will include three new achievements. If you're keeping an eye on the currently-unobtainable Short-Term Commitment and Long-Term Commitment achievements, they are present on the Known Issues list but are not listed as having a fix in this patch. On the Known Issues list, the team says they are currently in the process of "investigating reports" of the achievements "not registering as intended."

Additionally, ranked play will arrive with the update, so the playlists on both platforms are seeing an overhaul. Your choice of game modes will now look like this:

Halo Wars 2 Xbox One Playlists:

  • Versus AI
  • Rumble
  • Team Objective
  • Team War
  • Ranked 1v1 War
  • Ranked 2v2 War
  • Ranked 3v3 War
  • (Blitz) Standard
  • (Blitz) Brawl
  • (Blitz) Ranked Standard
  • (Blitz) Ranked Brawl
Halo Wars 2 Windows 10 Playlists:

  • Versus AI
  • Team War
  • Ranked 1v1 War
  • Ranked 2v2 War
  • Ranked 3v3 War
  • (Blitz) Standard
  • (Blitz) Brawl
  • (Blitz) Ranked Brawl
Everything is scheduled to arrive for the Play Anywhere title sometime between March 20th and March 24th, so if you see the three new achievements scan in, that probably means Kinsano and her update have arrived.
