Next Star Wars Battlefront and Need for Speed to Be Shown at June's EA Play

By Kelly Packard,
EA has revealed more details about their upcoming event EA Play. As you may remember from earlier this year, this is the pre-E3 event EA has forgone their usual Sunday briefing at the Los Angeles convention in order to host. EA Play will be from June 10th-12th with E3 beginning on June 11th.

The biggest titles that will be playable on the show floor at EA Play are undoubtedly the next installments in both the Star Wars Battlefront and Need for Speed series. While the existence of either game isn't new — last year EA confirmed a new Battlefront and Need for Speed game were both slated for 2017 — neither sequel has seen a formal announcement from the AAA company and players will finally be able to feast their eyes upon gameplay footage.

In other, not-so-surprising news, guests and those watching via live stream will also get a taste of EA's next generation of sports titles. Madden NFL 18, FIFA 18 and NBA LIVE 18 have been confirmed for the show. The publisher has also cautioned that "This isn't all, by the way...and we'll have more to share in the coming months," so maybe we're in for a surprise or two.

Like this year's E3, tickets to EA Play will be open to the public for those fortunate enough to live in the area or have the time to take a little trip to Hollywood. Be on the lookout for April 20, 2017 at 9 a.m. PST, which is when the tickets will go up for sale. There is no information on pricing or the ticketing process yet, but more details will become available "in the coming weeks."

For those watching from their desk chairs, recliners and sofas, EA has promised "detailed gameplay deep dives, competitive events and exclusive interviews with the development teams" will be provided throughout the entire event.
