Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 Server Shutdown Scheduled for August

By Kelly Packard,
As players of the game Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 are already aware, Konami has scheduled a server shutdown for the soccer title in August. Logging onto the game yields a message warning users about the imminent "termination of online service." Konami also posted accompanying warnings about the shutdown on the official Pro Evolution Soccer forums.

The news should not surprise longtime players of the series — PES games are notorious for discontinued achievements thanks to server shutdowns dating all the way back to the 2009 version.

The same shutdown message was applied to the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4 versions of the title. It includes a warning about currency being invalidated, so be sure to spend that while you can:

We regret to inform our users that online services for the PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2016 series will be discontinued on 23/08/2017 4:00 (UTC). We would like take this opportunity to thank you for your continued and loyal support.

Please note that all myClub coins and GP will be invalidated at the same time as online services end. If you still have myClub coins and GP remaining, we recommend you use them before online services are discontinued.

Online services for PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2017 TRIAL EDITION (free-to-play version), which is currently available to download, will continue after 23/08/2017. If you still wish to continue playing online, we ask that you consider trying this game.

*Note that any remaining myClub coins and GP cannot be carried over to PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2017 TRIAL EDITION.

We hope you will continue to enjoy the PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER series in future.
The server closure will discontinue 10 achievements for each version. Due to the amount, we've enclosed them in spoiler tags.
