Following the delayed release
announcement and Collectors' Edition details
from publisher Warner Bros. Interactive, it appears that Day 1 Studios has decided to jump on the bandwagon and crank up the Fear factor a little more.
The development team has released a new trailer showcasing the game's new Divergent Co-op mode:
The video features members of the development team highlighting the reasons behind why the game will feature a Divergent Co-op mode.
The premise behind the new mode is to allow gamers to play as either Point Man or his brother, Paxton Fettel. Depending on which of the characters are chosen will determine which abilities gamers will have at their disposal. For example, Fettel will be able to possess enemies, whereas Point Man could utilise a slow-mo ability when attacking with an assault rifle. The mode will see co-op players working together to gain a combined point total, but in an innovative twist, gamers will also need to compete against their co-op partner to gain the highest individual score.
Judging by the discussions in the latest video, the developers firmly believe that the new Divergent Co-op mode will improve the game's replayability value by encouraging gamers to "share the fear" alongside their friends.
As we pointed out in the linked story, F.E.A.R. 3
is now expected to be released in May; however, no exact date has been confirmed.
