After having the game on the new generation consoles for close to 18 months, Harmonix has launched yet another patch for Rock Band 4
filled with new ways to play and fixes, rather than just releasing another iteration of the game.
As mentioned before, missions are coming
in this new update, bringing song, score, or crew-based tasks in exchange for extra XP and a badge.
As a complement to the Rivals mode, Harmonix has added seasons: eight-week periods where players compete to rank up and get to the top tier. Until June 13th, the test Season 0 is taking place and the first season will start on June 15th. Players can join Season 0 still and unlock season specific rewards.
This update also targets some of the cheats used to increase song scores: calibration settings affecting sustains, calibration settings affecting drum fill timing, pause rollback extending vocal overdrive. This will be fixed and the current scores corrected (not removed) on the Rock Band 4
To complement the Title Update, Harmonix also pushed an update to its companion app, that even though it was released on May 15th, it was to complement the current update, allowing to access details of all songs (owned and purchasable), check our scores and the ones of our rivals, see the leaderboards, request songs from the app and many other improvements. The full list of the mobile app improvements (available for iOS
) is available below:
The Level Cap
is increased to 100 and all the XP players have earned after they had reached level 50 will be applied to the new level cap, meaning that if players had still played 1000 songs at max level, when they log in they'll get that XP boost and level up automatically.
The Vocal Overdrive will now have a manual option where it will not be activated by sound, even though this needs to be enabled in the options, it will avoid the speakers to activate it out of nowhere. You can see the full patch notes by clicking on the below spoiler:
Finally, 131 existing songs have lanes now, areas were previously one would have to strum in and out of the ordinary speed while keeping the tempo. Lanes allow the player to "strum as fast as they can without worrying about overhitting". The list of songs with new lanes is:
