New Achievements and More Coming to Rocket League in July

By Mark Delaney,
There's been a consistent stream of new content hitting Rocket League since its initial launch two years ago on PC and PS4. In celebration of the game's second birthday coming up next month, Psyonix has shared details — pretty much all of them — on their "Anniversary Update" launching for free in July. It'll feature the somewhat regular mix of a new arena, new crate, and two more Import Battle-Cars to seek out, with some brand new customization options too.

But I know my audience. Let's start with the achievements. There are six more unlocks hitting the list. Their individual and total gamerscore to be obtained has not yet been shared, but previous updates indicate a likely bump of another 200-250, and we'll know for certain soon. The achievements seem relatively easy and mention some incoming new features among them.

  • Storm Trooper - Equip a Very Rare Item and complete a game in an Arena with turbulent weather
  • Good Times - Head to Champions Field and complete an Online game
  • Swap Meet - Trade and receive one or more items with another player in a single transaction
  • Trade Secret - Trade in five items of the same quality to receive an item of the next-highest quality
  • Rank Up - Complete all placement matches in any Competitive Playlist
  • Coming on Strong - Score or Assist a combined 30 goals or assists in Casual or Competitive Online matches
As for the rest of the sizeable update, another arena, Champions Field, is joining the game's ever-increasing options in location. Two Formula 1-inspired Battle-Cars, Centio V17 and Animus GP will be among the items to find in the latest Overdrive Crate, as well a Black Market edition of the all-new goal explosion customization. Following the update, players will be able to pick their own signature goal explosion for when the ball crosses the net as well as enjoy some new unique engine sounds.

New trails, wheels, and decals will of course also be included in the crate. On the audio side, Psyonix has teamed up with Monstercat, an EDM music label, to add over 18 new songs to the soundtrack — the biggest update ever in that regard. For those participating in the competitive seasons, this update also marks the kickoff of season five with brand new rocket trails being handed out at each skill tier you reach.

The Anniversary Update goes live on July 5th.
