A trailer and several more screenshots have been released for Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn. Originally announced via an IndieGoGo campaign in 2014, progress on the scrolling beat 'em up has been somewhat slow up to this point, but we now have more of an idea of what to expect.
For those who are unaware of its background, Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn is a sequel to Shaq-Fu, a 1v1 fighter that starred Mr O'Neal himself as a martial arts champion sucked into an alternate dimension to battle evil. The 1994 title has since become somewhat legendary, albeit not for the reasons the developer intended. It is regarded as one of the worst games of the 16-bit era, to the point where a website for the Shaq-Fu Liberation Front was set up to destroy every known copy. Whilst the slogan of "better than the old one" is the epitome of damning with faint praise, it's clear that developer Big Deez Productions has their tongue firmly in their cheek, and is using the original's notoriety to their advantage.
Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn is set to be released in the Autumn.
