Last May Blizzard's Overwatch
launched to great fanfare, quickly catapulting to the top of the charts as one of 2016's biggest hits. The developer has celebrated the FPS's success with an anniversary event
featuring new loot boxes and more. The event is continuing into June with a Double XP Weekend from June 8th to June 12th.
Blizzard has clarified the sources of XP you can expect to be doubled. They've also noted the double XP boost stacks multiplicatively with existing bonuses such as the bonus for playing in a group. The only bonus it will not double is the First Win of the Day Bonus, which will stay at 1,500 XP regardless of any promotions.
- Time spent in a match
- Completing a match
- Completing consecutive matches
- Winning a match
- Backfilling a match in progress
- Earning medals
While most players don't seem have to have had any trouble reaching the three leveling-related achievements thanks to Overwatch
's addictive gameplay, they are out there:
The event goes live on Thursday, June 8th at 5 p.m. PDT/Friday, June 9th at 00:00 UTC and ends on Monday, June 12th at 11:59 p.m. PDT/Tuesday, June 13th at 06:59 UTC. If you're not familiar with either of these time zones, try the helpful graphic above.
