Ori Joins Rivals of Aether

By Kevin Tavore, 2 years ago
Rivals of Aether is an upcoming arena fighter that takes clear inspiration from games like Super Smash Bros. And like its inspiration, its cast of characters will be fighting a few fighters from other games. Today, we've learned that one of those crossovers is none of than Ori and Sein. Each uses their skills from the series, with Ori bashing, gliding and stomping. Sein, meanwhile, will use Spirit Flame and Charged Flame to attack the enemies.

Also coming to the game is a new stage inspired by the Ori universe. The stage comes in two versions, one for competitive mode and one for casual play with fun effects. You can see the developer's description of the stage here:

The new Spirit Tree stage comes with both a casual Aether version and competitive Basic version. On the Aether version, players will have to look out for Kuro as she dives toward the screen, striking those who have not taken cover under the platforms. Gumo, a fan favorite from Ori and the Blind Forest, also makes an appearance on the Aether version of the stage as he moves a platform around. Competitive players can play on the Basic version for a fair fight while enjoying some great music inspired by Ori and the Blind Forest.
Ori's moveset is better seen than simply read about, so the latest trailer will show you everything you need to know.

Rivals of Aether is available now as part of the Game Preview program. Ori will launch as DLC and will come with a US $4.99 price tag later this summer.
