As most of you know, I have been working this week to fix the scanners after they broke due to the new xbox.com design.
The problem with their new achievement ordering meant that it was almost impossible to match up secret achievements in certain games.
After the first couple fo rewrites, I was left with around 180 games that had multiple secrets that I couldn't match - 4 passes of various algorithms later I got that number down to 20.
I realised I'd pretty much done everything I could to try to get these games matched, so I took the decision to delete them completely to ensure they get properly remapped from scratch. What does this mean?
Firstly, the 20 games will appear to be new games. This means that any achievements you've earned in them will appear in your friend feed again. Please just ignore these messages.
Secondly, all solutions will need to be re-submitted for these games. What are the games in question?
Apart from 1 game (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game
), the games I removed had less than 2% of our community owning them, and most had less than 200 owners. What does this mean for my score?
In about 24 hours when most people have been scanned, the scores for these games should be back to normal. Most of you will notice no change at all.All this scanner nonsense is a nightmare!
Tell me about it. However, with achievement IDs back on xbox live, we should never have new DLC stopping games being scanned again - this is a good thing and well worth the additional work I've had to put in this week to rewrite them.
Thanks, as ever, for your patience while all this got sorted.
Hopefully we'll be good to go from now on!
