Remember last week when Twisted Pixel asked for people to show up to be filmed
for an upcoming, unannounced project?
Well, today the developer revealed that the project is titled The Gunstringer
and released several details and a video of the game, as well. The Gunstringer
is a Kinect title and will use the Kinect sensor to allow the player to "marionette a kick-ass undead cowboy puppet through action packed stage performances", according to project lead Dan Teasdale. The lead character, also known as the Gunstringer, was killed by a rag tag posse and has now arisen from the undead to seek his revenge. Players get to control him marionette-style through stages that take on the appearances of plays, complete with actors and props.
Teasdale also shared some insight on the game's development:
The Gunstringer marries [the story and concept] with really fresh and fun gameplay mechanics. From the start of this project, we’ve focused on getting across the feel of marionetting a puppet’s movement through a 3D world, then mixing that with the fun and mayhem of targeting-focused shooters like Rez. One minute you’ll be navigating the Gunstringer over tricky ravines or towards secret paths, the next you’ll be ducking behind cover to take out a half-dozen clockwork alligators with your six shooter. The Gunstringer
team is going to make use of Kinect in unique ways, most notably the fact that this is not a game which you will have to stand up to play. They also promise that "there are no minigames, forced gestures, or end of level photos of you in your underwear here".

No release date has been given for the title as yet nor is it clear if it's going to be XBLA or a retail release. If you want to take a look at it early, however, Twisted Pixel will be showing the game off at the upcoming PAX East in Boston.
