It's the middle of the month, and that means it's time for the latest TA Playlist
poll. August brings us our fifth Playlist community game since the recurring monthly event began. That means we've had four games finish in second place so far. What we'd like to try for August — and tell us if you like this or not — is bring back those four silver medalists to compete for a second chance at being the Playlist title.
Some polls were close. Others weren't. But with such a lively community we thought it would be fun to guarantee a second chance to any game that finishes just shy of the winning spot. Going forward, we intend to make every fifth month of TA Playlist feature such a poll. With that out of the way, here's our first second chance quartet:
Dishonored is an immersive first-person action game that casts you as a supernatural assassin driven by revenge. With Dishonored’s flexible combat system, creatively eliminate your targets as you combine the supernatural abilities, weapons and unusual gadgets at your disposal. Pursue your enemies under the cover of darkness or ruthlessly attack them head on with weapons drawn. The outcome of each mission plays out based on the choices you make.
Life is Strange is a five part episodic game that sets out to revolutionise story based choice and consequence games by allowing the player to rewind time and affect the past, present and future.
You are Max, a photography senior who saves her old friend Chloe by discovering she can rewind time. The pair soon find themselves exposed to the darker side of Arcadia Bay as they uncover the disturbing truth behind the sudden disappearance of a fellow student.
Meanwhile, Max begins to have premonitions as she struggles to understand the implications of her power. She must quickly learn that changing the past can sometimes to lead to a devastating future.
The Star Wars saga continues in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed! Take on the role of Darth Vader’s “Secret Apprentice” in a new chapter of the saga set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. Unleash over-the-top Force powers and devastating attack combos on enemies with unique behaviors and reactions every single time you play. Metal bends like metal, wood splinters like wood, and glass shatters like glass as you unleash the Force like never before.
Armed with only the raw instincts and physical ability to push beyond the limits of human endurance, Tomb Raider delivers an intense and gritty story into the origins of Lara Croft and her ascent from a frightened young woman to a hardened survivor.
All four games are available in some form on both last and current generation Xbox consoles. As always, any version of any game will be counted among our stats. The poll ends in one week. In the meantime, you could check out the ongoing month in which we're playing Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
. You can also subscribe to the TA Playlist podcast
that wraps up each month of discussion, and if you have three minutes to spare, consider leaving a rating and review.
