TA Playlist Game for August 2017 Announced

By Mark Delaney,
August's poll has come to a close, and despite a few days where each of the four featured games held a small lead in first place, eventually one pulled far away over the course of the week. The comments accompanying the story last week may have spoiled the surprise for anyone paying attention, as it seemed apparent in which direction most people were heading with their votes. Presenting the next edition of TA Playlist:

Life is Strange

17/03/15 - Screen 1

Dontnod's 2015 episodic game sought to build on the format popularized by Telltale's constant stream of story-focused adventure games. The first episode is free for anyone curious enough to try it out with other Playlisters in August. It's also quite an easy completion for any achievements hunters that haven't yet played it or finished off the list. The prequel's debut episode also premieres in August so however you feel about the game, you have to agree the timing works out well. Below you can see the final vote distribution from the week of voting.

Game Votes
Life is Strange 769 (30.87%)
Dishonored 598 (24.01%)
Tomb Raider 577 (23.16%)
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 547 (21.96%)
How does Life is Strange stack up as both a time travel story and an indie-spirited teen drama? What does it add to its game genre? Where does it falter? And how about that dialogue? These and many more questions will be the focus of our community playthrough starting on August 1st. As always, any version of the Playlist game will be counted as participation, so whether you play Life is Strange on Xbox One or 360, you'll be an official TA Playlister and level up your site badge.

Make sure you check out the TA Playlist Hub, found here or under the community banner atop the site. There you'll find our active discussion forums, gameplay highlights from the community and the always daunting stats round-up. Plus you can access all the same for past games, all the Playlist news, and catch up on the TA Playlist podcast which arrives at the end of each month. It's not too late to voice your opinion on this month's game, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Join us when the calendar changes over to August for a — ahem — hella interesting month.
