A Hat In Time Announced

The new publishing initiative “Presented by Humble Bundle” announced a new cute-as-heck platformer in the vein of Jak and Dexter, Sly Cooper, and Ape Escape in conjunction with Denmark’s Gears For Breakfast. The new title, known as A Hat in Time, features tight mechanics, pretty visuals, nice music, and a wacky and quirky story.

In A Hat In Time, you play as a tiny space traveling girl who wears a large top hat. This hat wearing protagonist, with the highly original name of Hat Girl, has her adventure stopped when her fuel, known as Time Pieces, is lost and scattered all over the universe. Her mission is to find these Time Pieces throughout 35 different stages/worlds. These stages include a world full of mobsters and food, a murdery mystery to solve while riding a high-speed train, and highly sought after locations that dedicated collectors can reach. You will also get to meet Mustache Girl and her British accent.

Hat Kid can jump and fight through the stages in order to restore her fuel and continue her journey. She can double jump and climb up walls, and propel through the air with a speedrunner type dive. She gains more mobility and abilities as she gathers more adorned hats by finding yarn throughout the world for her to stitch into the hat. For example, her witch hat allows her to make potions to throw at enemies and break environmental impediments, while her fox mask allows her to see into another dimension and her snow hat lets her turn to ice and crush enemies. Attaching badges to the hat also allows Hat Kid to become more powerful.

A Hat In Time is expected to release sometime this fall.
