Achievements in the Gears of War series
are known for having steep requirements. As of the September update, The Coalition is altering one of Gears of War 4
's more challenging achievements ever so slightly.
The achievement in question is the Chest Candy achievement. It's awarded for earning one of every ribbon, which are earned for doing specific tasks, such as getting a double kill. Come September, three of the ribbons will no longer be required:
- Ole! – Grenade tag a bayonet-charging enemy
- Not Today – Revived every member of your team in a single round of an Execution or Warzone match
- Smorgasbord – Killed an enemy with each weapon in Arms Race
The Seriously 4.0 achievement in Gears of War 4 worth 1704 pointsComplete Insane Campaign, ribbons, rank placements, Horde maps, re-ups, classes and five skills
The developers have confirmed this will also slightly affect earning Seriously 4.0 itself, where one of the several requirements is to earn all the ribbons. However, there are still well over 100 ribbons to earn, so players are far from entirely off the hook with this achievement. (Update
: However, a matchmaking update
will also prevent players from selecting a region from the main menu, eliminating the possibility to boost in lesser-populated regions. Thanks to Runner eGirl
in the comments section below for the information.)
The Coalition says they have "heard your cries to do something about these ribbons," believing they "require some really specific circumstances, relying heavily on the actions or performance of other players to pull off."
The changes will go live with the September update.
