The oft-troubled Microsoft exclusive Crackdown 3: Campaign will miss its November 7th launch meant to coincide with that of the Xbox One X, reports Polygon.
Shannon Loftis, the publishing general manager at Microsoft Studios told the outlet the three teams behind the multifaceted game simply need more time to deliver the level of quality it deserves.
"We’re very excited about Crackdown 3, and so are many fans, and so it’s a difficult call to move the release date. However, we want to make sure to deliver the right game, with the right quality, and at the right time[...]Getting the balance right between the three modes is important, and we are going to take the extra development time to ensure that. Gamers can expect Crackdown 3 in Spring of 2018.It's not the first time the open world game has been hit with delays. After apparent difficulties leading up to last summer it was announced that only the multiplayer mode would be released while the teams finished work elsewhere with the game. That due date came and went, however, and a year later it's been given another push.
Along with September's Forza Motorsport 7 and the much-anticipated indie Cuphead, Crackdown 3 was meant to be featured as a premiere holiday title for the brand right around the launch of the Xbox One X. The delay now puts Crackdown's status in the always ambiguous "spring next year" window.
