For RPGs, shooters, strategy games and more, the news has been pouring out of Gamescom 2017
nonstop. CD Projekt is there teasing upcoming content for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game
, which is still in open beta. They've announced a new story campaign for the card game called "Thronebreaker."
With so many compelling characters in The Witcher
universe, CD Projekt didn't want to go back to Geralt, whom players already know well. "Thronebreaker" hones in on Meve, a queen and war veteran of two Northern Realms. The once battle-tested queen will have to return to the battlefield when her people are threatened by an invasion. As a result, Meve "sets out on a dark journey of destruction and revenge."
According to CD Projekt, "players will explore new and never before seen parts of The Witcher
world, embark on thought-provoking quests, gather resources, as well as engage in custom-made story battles, which twist the game’s rules in wildly unexpected ways."
"Thronebreaker" will launch for all versions of Gwent
later this year.
