Fear Effect Remake Announced

Fear Effect is a name held dear by many gamers. Launching late into the original PlayStation's lifespan, Fear Effect and its sequel were some of the most memorable titles to grace the system before it was replaced by the PlayStation 2. The series lay dormant until 2016 when Fear Effect Sedna was kickstarted by developer Sushee. That same developer has now announced Fear Effect Reinvented, a remake of the original Fear Effect.

The building excitement surrounding Fear Effect Sedna is what inspired Sushee to consider the prospect of remaking the first. According to Benjamin Anseaume, founder of Sushee, "we realized how much love Fear Effect as a franchise still had amongst gamers." It's also smart advertising. If gamers like Sedna, they'll be inclined to try Reinvented and vice versa.

Sushee promises Reinvented maintains the atmosphere of the first game while at the same time bringing it into the modern age with "drastically improved visuals, tweaked controls and other exciting extras." The original took place in the seedy crime world of Hong Kong, allowing players to choose from three different mercenaries as they searched for the kidnapped daughter of a Triad leader.

Fear Effect Reinvented is expected to launch on Xbox One in 2018.
