It's been a fairly busy Gamescom for the Pro Evolution Soccer 2018
team. In addition to an event held yesterday in Cologne itself, where Borussia Dortmund stars Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Marco Reus got hands-on with the game, Konami has also detailed the demo version of the game that's on the way, as well as releasing two new trailers.
We'll start off with the demo news. Releasing at the end of the month, the demo will have a mixture of big European names (Liverpool, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan), South American flair (Corinthians, Flamengo, Boca Juniors, River Plate and Colo-Colo) and some international flavour (Brazil, Argentina and Germany). In addition, the player will be able to choose whether to do battle in Barcelona's Camp Nou or Borussia Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park.
Now onto the trailers. First up is the simply titled "gamescom trailer", which shows a lot of recognisable faces strutting their stuff on the pitch. Rather wisely after the Neymar transfer to Paris Saint Germain caused issues with the game's cover, they seem to have made sure to only show the likes of Philippe Coutinho in national colours. He is currently embroiled in a transfer saga between Barcelona and Liverpool — ironically both teams with whom Konami have teamed up.
The other trailer is more focused than the first, based on legends coming to the game's myClub mode. In addition to legends from both Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund, Diego Maradona — now a brand ambassador for the series after settling a legal dispute with Konami a few months ago — and David Beckham were both on show.
The demo for Pro Evolution Soccer 2018
will launch on Xbox 360 and Xbox One on August 30th. The full release follows in North America on September 12th, with European and Australian versions released on the 14th.
