If you haven't heard of the game White Noise
, rest easy knowing you're not the only one. Perhaps the first time you saw it was when we scanned in its achievement list
a few days ago. Milkstone Studios' cooperative horror game flew under the radar as an Xbox 360 Indie Game — remember those? — costing only one U.S. dollar and not being equipped with any achievements. The developer has chosen Gamescom week to announce White Noise 2
, the sequel.White Noise 2
, like the first, sees a group of investigators working together to discover clues and uncover the truth to a mystery. Unfortunately, this isn't quiet detective work thanks to a creature trying to hunt down the detectives with its unique powers. The "dark environment and labyrinthine scenarios" and the traps the creature can set don't make things any easier as getting separated from your fellow comrades likely means death.
The game has already benefited from Steam's Early Access program, receiving 55 updates over the course of its development. At launch, White Noise 2
will boast "seven playable areas, over ten investigators with different perks and playing styles, and four creatures with different playstyles and powers." There will also be two pieces of DLC available at launch: the "Supporters Pack" features a new flashlight and a new Idol for the creature, and the "Astaroth, the Duke of Hell" DLC includes a different creature with new abilities. Each will retail for US$1.99.
White Noise 2
launches on September 1st for Xbox One. It's available to pre-order now
with a pre-order discount of 20% off its regular price of US$9.99.
