Summer Knockout Patch Launches for SMITE Console

By Kelly Packard, 9 months ago
Summer is coming to an end for the Northern Hemisphere. What better way to enjoy the last warm days of the season than to sit inside playing video games? Hi-Rez is ready to push the "Summer Knockout" patch to SMITE console, which brings more additions to the Summer of SMITE, a few balance adjustments, bug fixes and more.

The last update was huge, bringing a new Adventure mode and more, so "Summer Knockout" kicks back and relaxes with a few console-specific bugs fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where the S.O.S. Loading Skin icon was not visible in the Profile menu.
  • Fixed an issue where the controls for The Morrigan’s Ultimate Selector were inconsistent with the player’s equipped controller layout.
  • Fixed an issue where the Default Loading Frame was not able to be equipped.
Next up are the final items for the Summer of SMITE event. Bearly Buzzed Bacchus is the collection reward for those who have purchased all eight Summer of SMITE skins. The event won't be sticking around for too much longer, as it will soon be replaced by The Odyssey, which has already been announced for next patch, so be sure to pick up any summer skins before the next event hits.

In addition to Bearly Buzzed, Bae Watch Cu Chulainn and Fire Dancer Xbalanque can be directly purchased for 400 gems each. Each Summer of SMITE item comes with a sand dollar to redeem a small reward from the shop, such as an icon, loading card or pedestal, so be sure to redeem the rewards from that before the event closes as well.

Other skins that have been added include Dropkick Terra (sold in the Connor's Cure Bundle for 500 gems, also includes a Wrestling Belt Global Emote, Punching Bag Ward and and the Cutesy Terra Dropkick Avatar. US$1 from every purchase goes to the Connor's Cure fundraiser for pediatric cancer), Serenity Vamana (available in the Zen Chest at 400 gems per roll), Maha Rakta Ganesha (a tier two skin for 450 gems) and Artio's mastery skins.

Continuing the Project Olympus quality of life changes, it's the Learn Tab's time to get a makeover. A new glossary has been added with a comprehensive list of MOBA terms, so be sure to consult it if you run into anything with which you're not familiar.

Ever wondered what the term “Proxy” means? If you are new to MOBAs or not fully-versed in all the terminology, you can now quickly look up a definition in the Learn Tab. Players can search for any word listed, as well as see links to related words directly on the definition screen.
On the gameplay side of things, the Fire Giant no longer spawns individual lava pools beneath pets. Duel players will be happy to see they now have eight bans to work with, or four for each player, up from six total, or three for each player. The Shell and Heavenly Wings actives have been nerfed and Sundering Spear has been buffed. Three magical items have also seen buffs: Shaman's Ring, Telkhine's Ring and Dynasty Plate Helm. Newest god Artio has been nerfed along with Chronos and Skadi. Cu Chulainn, Khepri and Susano have all received small buffs. To view the full patch notes, be sure to check out the official list here.

They weren't mentioned in the patch notes, but if the console version continues to follows the same achievement schedule as the PC version, Artio should be receiving two achievements with the patch.

"Summer Knockout" goes live for the Xbox version of SMITE on Thursday, September 7th. Patches usually land in the morning (ET).

We've got the full list of SMITE achievements - check the list for guides to unlocking them.
