The latest iteration
of the Xbox One UI was released to Insiders on the Alpha ring at the start of August, bringing with it some of the most requested features such as a faster guide and customisation of the Xbox One home screen.
Shortly after the new UI was unveiled, Xbox platform Corporate Vice President, Mike Ybarra, took to Mixer to demo the new design, and in a subsequent question and answer session with viewers revealed that a light theme was currently in the works — something which we got to see during our platform demonstration
with Xbox at this year's Gamescom.
If you like the look of the new Xbox One light theme and are on the Alpha ring of the Insider program, there's good news, as the latest console update now allows you to switch to the new theme, switching the previously dark backgrounds on the system tabs and guide menus to a much brighter look. For those of you not on the Alpha ring, this update will be arriving at a later date. If you're wondering how to switch to the Xbox One light theme, you can find instructions below.
How to Switch to the Xbox One Light Theme
- Open the Xbox One Guide by pressing the Xbox button on your controller
- Navigate to the Action Centre (cog Icon) on the right
- Select All Settings
- Navigate to Personalisation
- Select System Personalisation
- Select System Theme
- Select Light
The change should be almost instant, and you'll now see the light theme in use on your Xbox One.
You can see the theme in action in our handy video below:
Will you be switching to the new Xbox One light theme when you get the chance, or do you prefer the original darker theme?
