After almost 10 years of site development, TrueAchievements now contains a vast amount of information and features. Much of that information is split out across various pages on the site, and it can be a pain to have to click through on links all the time to find basic information about a particular game, gamer or achievement.
To make things easier for you, we've just built and put live TA Hover Cards - summary information about the item behind a link.
Gamer hover cards
The first card can be seen by hovering over a gamer link
anywhere on the site.
You'll see their main site statistics, the game they are currently playing, and have buttons to message them or add them as a friend, or compare your games to theirs.
Game hover cards
Hovering over links for games that are not out yet
, you will see an expected release date, and the latest news story about the game.
You can also subscribe to news about the game and add it to your wishlist from this card.
For games that have released
, you'll see a lot more information, including the max TA, GamerScore and achievements, pricing for your region, and your own progress in the game if you have played it.
If you hover over someone else's game link (for instance, on your friend feed), you'll also see their progress in the game.
Achievement hover cards
Hovering over a link to an achievement
will show you its score information, as well as the game it's from and whether it has any solutions.
You can also add and remove the achievement to your To-do list from this card.
As part of our ongoing effort to improve the usability of the site, we've added Toast notifications for many of these buttons, and we'll be adding them to more of our buttons in the coming weeks. We think they look pretty sweet:
Although I've been away at various games conventions over the last month (have a listen to the most recent Podcasts
for more info), I've been running various tools to analyse the performance of the site, and over the last week I've made a host of improvements to speed of our main database. Those changes are now live, along with a load of other small devs that you can read about on the Site Updates
