As we head into the busy fall release season, developers are vying for players' attention from all angles. Psyonix hopes to retain Rocket League
players' interest with what looks to be a massive update. Called the "Autumn Update," the new content will offer a limited-time arena, a roll-out of new events, more crates, new battle cars and more.
First off, expect a change of pace in the arena rotation when five arena variants drop into Exhibition, Private and Ranked matches: Starbase Arc, Wasteland, Champions Field (Day), Mannfield (Snowy) and DFH Stadium (Day). Accompanying the autumn theme, a limited-time seasonal stadium can be found in Competitive, Casual and Private matches. Farmstead is set on "the tranquility of a rural farm." At least it was
tranquil until a bunch of drivers thought they'd host a rocket car soccer game there.
Starting with the "Autumn Update," Psyonix will offer more in-game events. There aren't many details on these at the moment, but they request players "look for more details when each in-game event drops." There is one hint: Events will offer new (and rare) items called Decryptors. Decryptors can unlock any crate, even limited ones that are no longer available.
Speaking of crates, the newest one to hit Rocket League
's metaphorical store shelves will be the Accelerator Crate. The hottest item it contains is the Import Battle-Car Jäger 619 RS, but the crate also promises "flashy trails, new goal explosions, or animated wheels."
There are a few more features besides: new player banners will offer further customization, Season 6 will begin in Ranked, new, transparent goalposts should offer increased visibility, the spectator feature has a new director's mode, and over 90 new cosmetic items have been added "as Uncommon, Rare, and Very Rare drops after online matches or from Trade-Ins."
The autumn content will go live as a free update on September 28th. To see the full details, head over the official preview page here
