Final Fight-Inspired Beat 'Em Up 99Vidas Announced for Xbox One

Nearly half a lifetime ago, beat 'em ups ruled much of the gaming market. Titles like Final Fight, Double Dragon, Golden Axe, Battletoads and Streets of Rage were some of the hottest games to be had. QUByte Interactive's 99Vidas is inspired by all of the above and then some, promising to "bring back the nostalgia of those great classics from the 80s and 90s." The game already launched on Steam and has now been announced for Xbox One.

99Vidas looks to channel the feel of the classic games by which it's inspired, while at the same time offering the niceties of a modern game. The gameplay features two attack buttons: one with a fast but weak punch and the other performing a slow but strong kick. Players will learn to perfect their use of the two to perform combos, which are upgradable.

There are 11 playable characters, six boss fights, a versus mode, a survival mode, six regular stages and two bonus stages. Friends can join in the fun with up to four-player co-op that is available locally or online.

According to the developer, 99Vidas has already passed quality assurance certification from Microsoft and is launching soon for Xbox One.
