If you're planning to pick up any Xbox Live Indie Games on Xbox 360 before Microsoft closes the books on the program, the window of opportunity is narrowing. A reminder from the ID@Xbox Twitter account reminds gamers that "today is the last day to download new #XBLIG games on Xbox 360." The store was originally supposed to close
at the end of September, but was later extended to an October 7th shutdown date.
They weren't available in all regions. The titles don't have achievements. But, they're still pieces of gaming history that were enjoyed by millions of users, and many gamers have expressed the sentiment to add a few more to their collections before they're no longer able to.
Due to the process of removing all the games from the Xbox Marketplace, some titles may continue to appear on the store a few days past the removal date. Players will still be able to download games they already own past the shutoff date. "Today" in Microsoft's time zone ends at 12 a.m. PDT when the clock turns over to October 8th, but players should buy any games as soon as possible to avoid any issues. Yesterday, the ID@Xbox account tweeted
the store would be going down at 12 a.m. PDT on October 7th (which has already passed), but has since sent out the tweet indicating games will be purchasable throughout the entirety of the day.
