While still one of the biggest franchises in gaming, the Call of Duty
series has been on shaky ground the past couple of years, no more noticeable than when the reveal trailer for last year's Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
became one of the most disliked videos in YouTube's history. Fans have been calling for a return to the more grounded World War II setting of the original games and that's exactly what Activision and Sledgehammer Games are providing with the upcoming Call of Duty: WWII
. As shown by their live-action trailer for the game, they're hoping that will be what brings those lapsed fans back.
Titled "Reassemble", the trailers — there are a few variants — follows the journey of a man trying to get his old squad back together with a variety of humour and hijinks, all to the tune of Royal Blood's "Figure It Out".
First up is the longest of the three, which is the "normal" version AKA the American one.
There's also the UK variant. No Scottish guy which is a wee bit weird considering the American trailer has one.
Finally, there's the French version, definitely the most stylishly dressed of the three.
Call of Duty: WWII
comes to Xbox One on November 3rd. Will you be getting your squad back together?
