HITMAN Game of the Year Edition Announced, Elusive Targets to be Reactivated

By Ashley Woodcock, 1 year ago
IO Interactive has announced the Game of the Year Edition of their beloved, stealth-filled, third-person shooter HITMAN, which will include The Complete First Season, a new campaign, new contracts, and a ton more. Also, there will be a new patch and Elusive Targets will be making a return too.

Since becoming an independent company, this will mark the first time that IO has released new content for the game. The team is understandably pretty chuffed with what they have put together, so let's break down what's in the store in this edition of their title.

The Complete First Season

As it says on the tin, this includes all of the DLC released so far for the game, including the seven different locations, all bonus missions, all of the Challenge Packs, Escalation and Featured Contracts, and a whopping 700 challenges.

New: Patient Zero Campaign

After the routine elimination of a target, a contingency plan to unleash a global pandemic is triggered and Agent 47 must race against the clock to prevent a virus from spreading. This four-mission campaign spans different locations in the game, each one re-worked from the original settings with new gameplay opportunities, disguises, characters, challenges, gameplay mechanics, AI behaviour and HUD elements. Bangkok, Sapienza, Colorado and Hokkaido look and feel completely different with a new time of day and new custom music created by the composer for Season One, Niels Bye Nielsen.

New: Clown Suit and ‘A New Bat’

Corky the Clown may have given you some sleepless nights back in your Hitman: Blood Money days. The unnerving clown is back with his red wig, colourful socks and huge shoes, and to top off the sweet-looking clown suit, a signature weapon will also be available to use with it. "A New Bat", which can only be carried without attracting attention while wearing the suit, comes with custom sound and visual effects each time it is used.

New: Raven Suit and ‘Sieger 300 Ghost’

To look tactical and stylish at the same time, the Raven Suit will be the attire to don. Ideal for Agent 47's sniper operations, the black and charcoal suit comes with slick gloves and enough pockets to hold all of the tools you'll need. The Sieger 300 Ghost is a unique ICA variant of the Sieger 300 rifle, and with its all-black paint job, the rifle goes perfectly well with the Raven Suit. The rifle also comes with a suppressor, an extended scope with four different levels of zoom, and the Marksman perk that will allow the player to improve their aim and slow down time.

New: Cowboy Suit and ‘The Striker’

The albino alligator boots, sunglasses, cowboy hat and the steel blue on patriotic white suit come together to form The Cowboy Suit. With a fist-sized belt buckle, the suit comes with The Striker: a magnum pistol that deals a heavy blow with each shot. The pistol packs increased damage at all ranges, piercing rounds and also knocks back targets.

New: Themed Escalation Contracts

New Escalation Contracts have been designed to go with each new weapon/suit combination. Use each suit and weapon in the new contracts, which will include brand new complications based on new gameplay mechanics. Offering new and unique experiences, the contracts will come with new starting locations unique to the specific contracts and each Escalation will be made up of three stages. One of the Escalations will reach seven targets, which is a first for HITMAN, although I'm sure the pro assassins won't have much trouble conquering this tough task. Complete each contract to unlock the corresponding weapon, which can then be used in all locations across the whole game. This will mean that players can take a shot at Clown Only and Striker Only runs.

Free Game Update/Patch for all players

Specific details are yet to be released on what's included in the update, but IO has highlighted what's to come for now:

A redesigned UI with a new colour scheme and visual style
A fresh new look across the board and re-organised menus to make it easier to find what you’re looking for.

New Contracts Mode features
‘Trending’ helps you find the most popular contracts, making sure you can easily find a new challenge. We’re also adding 10 ‘Conditions’ that will add huge depth to Contracts Mode, such as restricting disguise changes or requiring players to use a specific exit. Anyone who creates a contract will be able to toggle these conditions to set a more defined challenge for their contract.

Major lighting improvements to all missions
New colour grading, readjusted HDR adaptation rules and re-designed skyboxes mean that our locations look more vivid, vibrant and lifelike.

Commemorative Elusive Target Unlock
If you played any of the Elusive Targets we released during Season One, we’re giving you an in-game coin to commemorate your progress and thank you for your support.

Xbox One X Enhancements
A whole host of enhancements are on the way for Xbox One X owners, including options for native 4K and a higher framerate. Specific details to come in a Xbox-specific blog post.

Various fixes and improvements
Full release notes will be published closer to 7 November. That should be enough time to start thinking about your default loadout for each location

Elusive Target Re-activation
Starting in November, we will re-activate Elusive Targets. If you missed any Elusive Targets the first time around, or if you are new to HITMAN, this is your chance to experience these intense time-limited targets. All of the suit unlocks are back in play for both new and existing players to complete their collection. If you’ve already completed or failed an Elusive Target, you won’t be able to play that specific contract again; your record for that contract will stand and cannot be altered. Re-activated ET’s will still be time-limited and the first one will be re-activated shortly after the release of our Game of the Year Edition on November 7th.
To finish off, take a look at this accolade-filled trailer:

The Game of the Year Edition of HITMAN will be available digitally for $60 on November 7th 2017. Existing players who already own The Complete First Season, either digitally or physically, can download the "GOTY Upgrade" that comes will all of the GOTY content for $20. This option will also be available for any who bought the episodes individually or previously purchased the "Intro Pack/Upgrade Pack" combination. A specific date and pricing for other regions for the upgrade is yet to be revealed.
