The folks over at Virtual Air Guitar Company may be geniuses. Amid the publicity of Kinect's much-foretold death as Microsoft ceases manufacturing
of the peripheral, the Kinect-focused company has announced two new titles: Boom Ball 3 for Kinect
and Kinect Funhouse
.Boom Ball 3
is, of course, the third installment in the Boom Ball for Kinect
series. Boom Ball
gameplay is something of a cross between Arkanoid
and tennis. In Virtual Air Guitar's own words
, it's pretty simple: "Throw balls; smash cubes."Boom Ball 3
has 50 new levels and two brand-new difficulty modes in addition to Normal: Fast and Turbo. From the descriptions, Normal is the same Boom Ball
experience players will recognize from the first two games. Fast mode will challenge players' reflexes and reaction times whereas Turbo will require more physical exertion. According to the developer, Boom Ball 3
is "nearing completion" and will launch for Xbox One in December for US$9.99 / €9.99 / £7.99.Kinect Funhouse
, however, we know much less about. The developer has been scarce with details, promising to reveal more details in 2018 while the game is slated for a spring 2018 launch.
According to Virtual Air Guitar Founder and Lead Designer Aki Kanerva, "We'll keep making Kinect games for as long as enough people keep buying them." Maybe this won't be the last of their Kinect announcements.
