Battlerite Celebrates Free-to-Play PC Launch With Trailer and Screens

By Kelly Packard,
Battlerite is the latest free-to-play title to be released to the masses. The team arena brawler is hot off its November 8th official PC launch and is gaining momentum, currently boasting more than 25,000 concurrent players on Steam. It's not ready for Xbox players just yet, but they can get a taste of what the title will offer thanks to a launch trailer and screenshots.

Battlerite is the spiritual successor to fan favorite Bloodline Champions. The developers describe it as "the unique combination of a top-down shooter meeting a fast-paced fighting game." It's a team game that is played 2v2 or 3v3. It's been biding its time in Steam's Early Access program behind a buy-in price but has now officially launched as free-to-play. Battlerite uses a weekly champion rotation similar to free-to-play MOBAs like League of Legends or SMITE, rotating champions that can be used for free. Players can permanently unlock champions through in-game currency or with real money. Also similar to SMITE or Paladins: Champions of the Realm, it has a Champion Pack that gives access to all current and yet-to-be-released characters for a one-time price of US $29.99 / 27.99€ / 23.79£.

The official release was accompanied by a new patch adding a new character named Thorn and 200 new items.

Battlerite does not have a release date for Xbox One but has been confirmed for the system as well as Windows 10 with Play Anywhere.

We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the Battlerite achievements.
