New Xbox One Avatars Delayed Until 2018

Back at E3 2017, Microsoft revealed a new look for the Xbox avatars. As well as an altered body shape, the redesign would include new clothing options, new props and new body customisation options like prosthetic limbs and baby bumps. There would also be an extended range of colour options.

The trailer that accompanied the announcement stated that the avatars would be arriving this fall, but unfortunately it seems like this won't be happening. Xbox and Windows Corporate Vice President Mike Ybarra confirmed that the avatars would not be arriving this year and that they're still working to perfect them.

It's highly likely that these avatars will be released to the Xbox Preview ring when they are finally ready before being released to the gaming public at large. Ybarra states that this is now "most likely early next year". We'll be sure to let you know when that date is getting near.
