Playground Games Creates Second Studio for Open World Action RPG

Playground Games is the developer known for the Forza Horizon Series, but back in February they revealed that they were forming a second studio solely for the purpose of creating a AAA game within a different genre. Today, gamesindustry.biz revealed that the studio has hired many new developers for a game that's now described as an open-world action RPG.

Details on the game are scarce, but they've hired some established talent to help in its creation. The game's production director is Sean Eyestone, who was most recently the senior producer at DICE. He has also spent ten years at Kojima Productions where he worked on the Metal Gear Solid titles.

There's also chief designer Will Kennedy who spent eight years at Rockstar North and worked on titles like Grand Theft Auto V. Meanwhile, Juan Fernandez di Simon is the game's principal combat designer. His last title was Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice at Ninja Theory.

In total, the project will involve 200 employees in addition to those who are employed at their established office at Leamington Spa. The project sounds like it's in its early stages, but we'll be sure to bring you more information as we get it!
