The Division Update 1.8 Launches Today, Free DLC Week

By Rebecca Smith, 10 days ago
The long awaited Update 1.8 Resistance has been released today for Tom Clancy's The Division. The largest free update for the title so far sees the game map expanded to include a new area: West Side Pier. There are also two new game modes, changes to "The Underground" DLC, a new social space (Camp Clinton) and an overhaul of how players go Rogue in the Dark Zone.

Update 1.8

The first of the new game modes is Resistance, a PvE mode. The different factions within the game are joining forces against The Division. Waves of enemy NPCs will spawn as up to four agents try to survive for as long as possible. Defeated enemies will drop resources that allow players to either build defences or extend the playing area to get a better vantage point. The longer you survive, the better the rewards.

Update 1.8

The second game mode is Skirmish, a PvP mode. Teams of up to four players take part in a Team Deathmatch style mode where the aim is to simply get the highest number of kills before the time runs out. Enemy players must be completely eliminated and not just downed for the points to be awarded.

Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft decided to celebrate the release of the new update by also offering players free access to all of the game's DLC expansions, "Underground", "Survival" and "Last Stand", between today and December 10th. If you're someone who has yet to try the game at all, players can access the full game and all of its DLC during a free weekend from December 7th to December 10th.

All progress that is made during these trials will be carried forward if you choose to purchase the content in the future. To try to help you with that decision, the game will be on sale between December 7th and December 10th at 70% off.
