Gears of War 4 December Update Achievement List Revealed

By Rebecca Smith, 10 months ago
Earlier this week, The Coalition started teasing the new achievements that would be coming with December's update in Gears of War 4. Now, not only have they revealed the full achievement list, they've revealed everything that will be coming with tomorrow's update.

December update

First, the list in which you're all interested. If the achievements are marked as retroactive and you have already met the requirements for this, they will unlock as soon as the update is released. There will be 10 achievements worth a total of 500 Gamerscore, none of which are secret:

Players who are concerned about the availability of the bottom two achievements will be glad to know that the game's senior community manager TC Octus has confirmed that there will be a lot more opportunities to get Flaming Weapon Skins in the future. This includes both those that have yet to be released and those that have already been available in previous events.

As well as the achievements, there are some gameplay fixes and alterations that have been made. The first of these is that players will notice an improved credit and XP reward in Versus matches. The aim of this is to balance the rate of earning credits or XP regardless of whether players choose to play Horde or Versus modes.

There will be 17 more cards added to the Series 3 collection, which now numbers over 70 cards. These include the Onyx Gold Swarm Grenadier, Swarm Hunter and Swarm Drone, as well as the Onyx Gold Weapon Skin set. Not only will you be able to find them in any Gear Pack, they will all be craftable too. Tomorrow also sees the debut of a new Gear Pack that features "a long anticipated Locust enemy type from the past".

December update

As the achievement list referenced, there will be the animated Midnight Omen skin set that can be earned by Horde players during special events. More details on the skins themselves and how you can collect them have been promised for later this month.

December update

In the meantime, you can see the Lancer skin below:

Players looking forward to the next event will be glad to know that Gearsmas will begin on December 15th and will run until January 2nd. The Horde Special Event will be TDM Snowball Fight where players will need to get direct hits this time. Players have been promised "a bunch of great Gearsmas content to collect". Before that, the 12 Days of Gearsmas event will begin on December 10th. Players who log in daily will be rewarded with things "from Gearsmas 2016 content to XP bonus events". There will also be a credit multiplier event for the first time. The team will be updating players on their Twitter and Faebook pages with each daily bonus.

Aside from the above, there are a few other patch notes that you can find below:

  • Horde Events now support Holiday Hats!
  • Xbox One X: Long games of Escalation no longer cause the game to crash
  • Removed multiple exploits allowing players to go out of bounds on Horde maps
  • Fixed an exploit involving ledge drop downs
  • Improved Versus and Horde dialogue for Bernie, Hoffman, Oscar and Sam in line with improvements made to other character dialogue
Finally, some players may have had issues launching or downloading the title on Windows 10. The issue is yet to be solved, but the good news is that the team has supplied players with a workaround in the meantime. The bad news is that it involves uninstalling and reinstalling the game. The full steps are below:

  1. Uninstall app from app list (right click -> uninstall) or uninstall from Apps & Features.
  2. Turn off your PC.
  3. Wait ~10 minutes and turn on your PC.
  4. Install the game from the store again.
Players will be able to download the update tomorrow, December 7th.
