Everspace Adds Hardcore Mode

By Rebecca Smith, 1 year ago
Everspace already had a Hard difficulty mode, with there even being an achievement for completing a task in the difficulty. Apparently this wasn't difficult enough for some, though, because Rockfish Games has added a new Hardcore mode to the game.

This standalone mode is not connected to the game's main story in any way and is purely for the aim of testing pilots who are looking for another challenge. Players begin every run in Sector 7 with the same pilot perks, and credits can only be used to upgrade them at the end of a sector. As players enter each new sector, they must also pick a handicap modifier that has an effect on the gameplay to come.

The developer has also created a new end sector with a final battle based on the placeholder boss fight that players saw in the Game Preview build of the title. It utilises some of the gameplay mechanics from that battle although adds its own personality too. Take a look at what you can expect in the trailer below:

Hardcore mode is available now as a free update on Xbox One and Windows 10.
