Blizzard rarely lets a holiday slip by without a themed brawl in Overwatch: Origins Edition
. This month, last year's
Winter Wonderland event will be returning to bring holiday cheer to the first-person shooter.
The event will bring new cosmetics like a "long-awaited Hanzo skin" that Game Director Jeff Kaplan says players will recognize from an Overwatch
comic. Some of the regular maps will once again be redecorated to fit the winter theme. There will be a new mode within Winter Wonderland called Mei's Yeti Hunt, in which five Meis face off against one Yeti (Winston). The Meis and, more surprisingly, the Yeti, will all be player-controlled. When players queue up for Mei's Yeti Hunt, they'll be able to select if they prefer to play as Mei or the Yeti.
If it's anything like other seasonal events, the return of Winter Wonderland will also give players another chance to earn its achievements
from last year. 2017's Halloween event added more achievements on top of 2016's achievements, so maybe there will be a new set too.
Kaplan discusses the Winter Wonderland brawl, and seasonal brawls in general, in the developer update video below. Blizzard hopes players find the different brawls "fun" and "lighthearted."
Winter Wonderland will be available in Overwatch
starting December 12th.
