A demo for the highly anticipated Dragon Age II
has been released onto the Marketplace today, which Xbox Live Gold members can download right now
In the demo, players will venture through the game's prologue, choosing from three different character classes. They'll also learn more about Hawke and hone their skills and abilities that will make them the ultimate hero. After finishing the prologue, players will enter a key new location in the world of Dragon Age, Kirkwall, befriending Isabela, a romantic interest in the game who is also a deadly smuggler.
As we previously reported
, Bioware have announced that if the demo reaches one million downloads before March 1st, they will unlock two new in-game items for the entire community to use in the full game. For your download to be counted though, you will need to log into your EA account while playing the demo.
Here's a brief description of the two items that will be unlocked:
The Far Cliffs of Kirkwall - Written by a Fereldan refugee as she fled the Blight, this book of poems describes her dreams of a new start in Kirkwall, the city across the sea. Readers will surely be enriched by her insights. (Gives money when read.)
Lothering's Lament - Written by a Fereldan refugee as she fled the Blight, this book of poems contains touching reminiscences of all she had to leave behind. Readers will surely benefit from her experience. (Gives XP boost when read.)
Not only that though - just by playing through and completing the demo yourself before May 31st, you'll unlock a special weapon for DA2 called Hayder's Razor, an "ancient dwarven blade which increases health, mana, and combat abilities."
