Weekend Announcements January 12-14th: Claws of Furry, Haimrik, OAOA and More

By Rebecca Smith,
After last week's seam-busting weekend announcements, it was far quieter over the last weekend. We still have six titles that you might have missed, though, all of which will be heading to the Xbox One in the future. Take a look:

Aperion Cyberstorm

aPriori Digital's local co-op twin stick shooter supports up to five players in each of its modes. During the campaign, players search four worlds for evidence of their team mates, who disappeared two years ago. Enemy difficulty scales to the number of players. You'll also locate new ships and abilities that can be upgraded to help in later battles. Onslaught is the game's survival mode, and the longer you survive, the more stars you earn. More maps are unlocked by earning five stars on previous maps. Finally, the game's versus mode includes eight different game types, such as Titan and Last Stand, with 32 maps in rotation. Players can add AI combatants if local friends aren't available. The ID@Xbox title will be released later this year.

Claws of Furry

Terahard Studios' side scrolling beat 'em up puts players in the role of a ninja cat. An unknown enemy has kidnapped your master and you need to defeat 50 levels of enemies to rescue him. Along the way, outfits can be unlocked that offer unique bonuses. Pussycat mode allows players to have checkpoints in each level, while Rogue-like mode tasks players with completing the levels without them. There's also an Arena mode. Up to four players can take part in local co-op when the game is released on Xbox One in Q1 2018.

Haimrik

Below The Game's puzzle-based action-adventure title puts players in the role of the titular Haimrik. He finds a book and quill but no ink, so he decides to do the only sensible thing and use his own blood to sign his name. Doing this absorbs him into the book and a fantasy medieval world, where he faces magic, warriors and dragons. Players run over the words that are on the floor, grabbing some of them to make them come to life and using them to defeat the words that threaten Haimrik. The title will be coming to Xbox One later this year.

Last Encounter

Savage and technologically superior aliens are the threat in Exordium Games' roguelike twin-stick shooter, and it's a part they're taking fairly seriously. With all hope gone, players assume the role of the last remaining human pilots trying to stop the enemy in their own territory. The galaxies are procedurally generated but you'll have a variety of upgradeable ships with a number of different attributes to help counter any unpredictability. The component-based weapon system also allows players to customise bullet type, fire pattern and other factors. Local co-op is available for up to four players to take on the aliens together when the game is released on Xbox One later this year.

OAOA - Off And On Again

This puzzle platformer from Ginger Biscuit Games tells the story of when technology goes very wrong. Initially the internet caused the growth of the digital universe, bringing wealth, power and knowledge to the world's citizens. Then things took a turn for the worse, the knowledge" turned out to be lies, and fear, paranoia and hate spread. Programs infected the world, causing jealousy over resources that belonged to others. When things seemed like they couldn't get any worse, a silent invader attacked the world and caused a devastating war. The only way to save the world is to reboot the system by turning it off and on again, resetting the world to a time before corruption. You can be that hero when the game comes to Xbox One and Windows 10 in the future.

The Forbidden Arts

Soon to enter Early Access on Steam, Stingbot Games' action-adventure platforming title won't be arriving on Xbox One for quite a while yet. The game's hero, Phoenix, is suffering visions and seeks help from a druid. In doing so, he realises he has pyromancy powers that can be used to stop a powerful necromancer from destroying the world of Chora. With the help of his companions, he'll overcome mental and physical challenges and discover new powers to assist him along the way. You'll need to wait until early 2019 to get your hands on this one as the game is currently only at the alpha stage of development.

Will you be getting any of these titles?
