JRPG Shining Resonance Refrain Announced

By Kevin Tavore,
It was once known as SEGA's top dog in the fight against Final Fantasy, but in recent years the Shining series has not been a household name. Despite this, SEGA has spent recent years pushing JRPGs to the West, and they've just announced that a PS3 entry into the series will soon be landing on Xbox One: Shining Resonance Refrain.

The game will be ported to this generation of consoles complete with a fresh coat of paint, all the original release's DLC and updates, and a new special Refrain mode that unlocks new party members to change up the gameplay. Of course, the game's trademark action combat will remain, focusing on using sound and music to perform the martial arts:

Dragoneers wield Armonics, ancient weapon-instruments, in order to perform mystical and powerful Rune Songs. Once you build enough BPM (Battle Performance Mana), your party will be able to perform a session through the B.A.N.D. system. Depending on which song you play and which character you set at the center, your party will be able to indulge in various beneficial effects. Certain characters may even perform the song in a special costume!
You can see a bit of the game for yourself in the announcement trailer:

Shining Resonance Refrain will come to Xbox One this summer.
