Paladins Update Will Greatly Reduce Achievement Grind

By Kelly Packard, 9 months ago
Xbox's most time consuming completion (or at least a top contender for the spot) is soon to be cut down to size. Paladins: Champions of the Realm is receiving an update that will overhaul the entire leveling system, greatly reducing the time needed to level up champions, essential to a few of the game's achievements that were added with the "All Hallow's Evie" update.

The most time consuming of all the achievements is called — rightly so — The Insane. The Insane requires players to have over 30 champions at mastery level 20 or higher. The problem is that getting a champion to level 20 is a huge time commitment, and time estimates to earn this achievement were well over 4,000 hours... not that anyone unlocked it to be able to know for sure. Even on PC, where Paladins has been playable much longer than consoles, the achievement was elusive. In fact, there were three mastery-related achievements, and the least time-consuming one is the only one anyone unlocked.

The new leveling values can be seen compared to the old leveling values in the graphs released by Hi-Rez below:

The update experience needed once the patch goes live will only be about one fifth of what players needed prior. There are other helpful features coming in the OB67 update, such as being able to purchase experience with gold, Paladins' in-game currency that is earned through playing. TA user tornprince2012 has already outlined calculations of a time estimate for the new patch and has estimated it to be around 700 hours, or possibly as low as 200 hours with experience boosters and other bonuses, such as the one for playing in a party.

The achievement is still for dedicated players, but 200 or even 700 sure sounds a lot better than 4,000. It would not be surprising to see a few dedicated Paladins players unlock these achievements quickly or automatically after the patch goes live due to the progress they have already made and will make in the days leading up to the patch's release.

Paladins' OB 67 patch is bringing a ton of other noteworthy changes, which can be viewed in more detail in the official patch notes. The patch is expected to reach consoles on March 14th.
