Call of Duty: Black Ops III Gets Infected Game Mode and New Map

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is two years old, and many of its players have long since moved on to the two newer instalments in the franchise. This doesn't mean that developer Treyarch is resting on their laurels, though. The game has received an update that adds a new game mode and a new multiplayer map.

The Infected game mode will likely already be familiar to players of Modern Warfare 3, Ghosts, Advanced Warfare, or Infinite Warfare, but only now has the mode arrived in BO3. One player is chosen to be the infected, and his goal is to infect other players by downing them. Downed players will then respawn as infected with the same aim of converting the remaining players. The match ends when either everybody is infected or a player has survived until the timer has run out.

As well as the addition of the game mode, the Redwood map has been given a facelift and is now covered in snow. The imaginatively titled Redwood Snow map is available alongside Redwood in the game. I would imagine that underwater path might now be a bit more difficult to navigate.

Finally, the patch also added some "general performance updates", although Treyarch didn't go into any specifics on those. The patch is available to download now.
