Fans of the State of Decay
series have waited long for today's news. Revealed exclusively with IGN
as part of their IGN First series, State of Decay 2
will launch on May 22nd simultaneously into stores and Xbox Game Pass. If you're not one for subscription services, you can grab the game for less than what you may have anticipated too.
The base game will launch at $29.99 or your regional equivalent. Also available will be an Ultimate Edition, which includes a digital copy of State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition
, two future DLC packs, the "Independence Pack" and the "Daybreak Pack," as well as early access to the game on May 18th. State of Decay 2
's biggest bullet point is perhaps its inclusion of four-player co-op. The sequel was also built from the ground up on Unreal Engine 4 after the original game utilized Crytek's proprietary CryEngine. A Gameplay demonstration has been teased for tomorrow which will highlight both of these new features, so check back soon to get your first glimpse of the game in action. If you're going to PAX East this month, State of Decay 2
will also be playable on the show floor. If you're picking up the game in May, will you buy it in full or access it through Xbox Game Pass?
