Konami announced that they, alongside developers Saber Interactive (the folks behind TimeShift
), would be creating Battle: Los Angeles
, a first-person shooter tie-in to the movie of the same name. Interestingly, Battle: Los Angeles
will be released as a downloadable title rather than a full blown retail title.
In a campaign that "mirrors" the movie, players will control a Marine as they battle off the invading alien force. The Marine will have access to a very standard set of weapons (think assault rifles, sniper rifles, and rocket launchers) as they defend Los Angeles alongside characters from the movie. The title also features destructible buildings, allowing the player to destroy bridges and scaffolding-like structures to halt the invader's forward-march.
While no release date or price has been set for Battle: Los Angeles
, the movie is set to hit on March 11th, 2011.
