Nine Games Leave Xbox Game Pass on March 31st

By Rebecca Smith,
At the end of February, 12 titles left the Xbox Game Pass service. This month is no different; on March 31st, nine more titles will be leaving the service according to the Games Leaving Soon section of the hub. The majority are Xbox 360 titles, but there are a couple of Xbox One games included, too.

Xbox Game Pass

If you're currently playing any of these titles through Game Pass, make sure you finish them within the next 12 days before you lose access to them. Here's the list:

Xbox One

Xbox 360

We're yet to hear about all of the titles that will be new for April, although we do know that Cities: Skylines will be one of the eight new titles. We'll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear more.

Thanks to the members of the community who sent this one in!

I'm fine with games leaving, but I don't think we are getting enough advance notice at the moment.

100% agree... this is less than 2 weeks notice to wrap up anything that's still not done.

I'm with you. Luckily I finally got motivated to finish up Comix Zone over the weekend but most of these I either already owned or don't have much interest in. I will however attempt to knock off Stacking.

2 Weeks is way too short of a notice. I'm hoping people complain and in future months they'll tell us at the beginning of the month which games will be leaving. I'd say when they announce the additions they should also announce what games will be leaving at the end of the month.

Main reason why I don't think I'll ever get game pass. I like the ability to leave and pick up games as I please. There are games I haven't played for over three years and haven't completed, but will pick them up again if I run out of games to play or for community challenges.

Out of these games though, I think Stacking and The Maw are the only games I'd be interested in. Hopefully they get a sale soon. And at least they're removing older games and XBLA games, not really major ones.

Need an actual announcement from Microsoft (via Major Nelson or whatever) of what games will be leaving at the end of the month rather than via a tab on the Game Pass page that not everyone can see. I feel too many games are leaving but its mostly the cheaper XBLA ones right now, could be loads going around June from the looks of it.

I want to know why a bunch of games say the discount ends in 8 days, They aren't leaving game pass so why is the discount ending?

GamePass holders do yourself a favour and play Stacking before it's gone !

I don't have game pass but when you select games there does it give you the option to purchase them? Because they could have a price discount for 8 more days. If not then that seems very strange.

games leaving shouldn't be an issue. if you play a game, finish the game and don't keep starting new ones. it's nice MS is giving people heads up.

    THANK YOU MS!

I own all the 360 ones and had no plans on playing the X1 ones, so no worries. I need to finish up Dirt Rally (yeah right haha) and Mad Max before they get the boot.

I believe if you have any of the games set to leave downloaded when the date comes, you get to hold onto them for another month even after they're gone.

So if you download 'Roundabout' and it's then announced to be leaving come the end of March, but don't actually get around to starting the thing afterwards, you'll have until the end of April to finish up, or there abouts.

Stacking and The Maw are both relatively easy to finish if you haven't played them. Stacking was the 2011 TA adventure game of the year and has a walkthrough to help you finish it up quick if you want.

Damn! And last night I downloaded both KYUB and Roundabout. Then saw the ratio for KYUB and the 4 unobtainables. I wanted a change of pace from MadMax.

    Thanks!

This is a great thing about Game Pass, I get to play a lot of games I would never have purchased on their own. Not because they are bad, but just not my usual thing.

The dropping of Hexic 2 and Jetpac Refuelled is concerning. Both are Microsoft owned IPs, and yet Microsoft is removing them from their subscription service. This more than anything lends creedence to some people's fears that the "permanent" part of "permanent first-party exclusive additions to Game Pass" might actually refer to the program itself, not the games being permanently included. Will be interesting to see how this further develops in upcoming months.

(I'm not including the Twisted Pixel games in this because while Microsoft published, the ones being removed were released while Twisted Pixel was still an independent contractor and not a subsidiary of Microsoft, and since they are again an independent company the rights may have reverted as part of the split).
