For players who want to try their hand at game making but don't have the necessary coding experience, there's software for that, but it's not usually found on consoles. Developer Super Icon and publisher PQube have announced PlataGO! Super Platform Game Maker
, which lets players create their own platformers "in minutes."PlataGO!
lets players select from preexisting assets, like environments, enemies, and collectibles, and easily add them to their creation with a "drag-and-drop interface." Once everything is in place, levels can easily be played and tested. The game has everything from the bare necessities one would need to create a basic level up to more advanced features like "teleporters, gravity-flipping pads, moving platforms and deadly laser traps."PlataGO!
also has graphical themes, which when selected will instantly change the visual style of a players' creation to resemble that of a classic platform such as "NES and Game Boy, to retro platforms like ZX Spectrum and C64."
Of course, something like this wouldn't make much sense if players couldn't download and play each others' games. Creations can be shared with one button click, and players can download and try community creations. Levels can be linked together to form a full game or stand alone as individual experiences.
is in Steam's Early Access program right now and will launch for Xbox One later in 2018.
